Development, Mysore hosts
a Global OD summit (GODS) in September
2006 in partnership with
Indian Society for Applied
Behavioral Science (ISABS).
This summit will bring together
all the stakeholders around
the profession. The goal
of the summit is 'Networking
for Knowledge Sharing'.
Experts will interact and
share OD interventions that
promise results. |
| We
are trying to evolve a framework
for global network of OD
professionals to work closely.

Organizations |
| |
|
| Development
of new OD models requires
addressing : |
|
|
 |
What is the relevance
of the OD practices
to emerging global
corporations? |
 |
What is the scope
for OD in the public
sector / public utility
undertakings and the
small / medium industries
in India? |
 |
Has OD hitherto practiced
delivered? |
 |
Does OD have prospects
in health, retail
& hospitality
services? |
 |
Is OD confined to
behavioral science
training and T groups? |
|
| The
Context |
| The
need for the Summit arises
on account of : |
| 1. |
Too much emphasis
on execution and delivery
to deadlines has rendered
that there is little
time to keep abreast
of emerging developments
in the field. Whatever
that is disseminated
in the conferences
and seminars held
in the developing
countries is missed
by the Indian managers
and aspirants for
want of time and funds. |
| 2. |
Rarely unique as they
are, transformations
and experiences from
within the country
need to be center-staged.
OD research and cases
of Indian organizations
are to be showcased.
The spirit of collective
inquiry has to begin
with a strong commitment
to knowledge sharing. |
| 3. |
When the world is
on the discovery lane
to zoom into India
in multiple ways,
the OD community appears
to have played out
its cards. Experiences
of change - whether
planned, chaotic,
quantum or rapid -
have only passed aside
the purview of the
mainstream academics
and corporate decision
makers. |
|
| GODS
is not merely a program,
but the rootage of a movement
and the genesis will be
in Mysore, which has already
witnessed the foundation
of Aloka, for Youth Leaders
from Asian countries in
1957 by Professor Rolf
Lynton. |
